Man Had To Force Security Guards To Help Him Arrest Pickpocket @1U

It is a common notion that mall security is largely responsible for maintaining and keeping the peace at shopping malls. This includes, but is not limited to breaking up fights, stopping thieves and ensuring that the shoppers are safe during their time at the shopping mall in question.

A video of a man shouting at a security guard to have him restrain and arrest a pickpocket, that was recently uploaded online, has gone viral on social media.

The 24-seconds video clip shows a two men restraining what is alleged to be a pickpocket on the floor of a shopping mall.

It is understood that the pickpocket was caught red-handed in the act and was trying to get away when the two men tackled him to the floor and pinned him down while dozens of curious shoppers surrounded them.

In the video, two security guards can be seen standing in the crowd looking around instead of helping the two men restrain the pickpocket. At one point, it can even be observed that the security guards turned away and pretended to not see the incident.

After a few seconds, one of the men shouted at the security guard to come and restrain the pickpocket.

After calling out to them profusely, the security guards finally stepped in to help

Netizens have expressed great anger at the lack of professionalism in the security guards and at the management of the shopping mall in question for hiring untrained guards. Many argued that the security guards were unfit for duty.

Some Malaysians who viewed the video condemned the security guards

However, a small but significant minority of Malaysians who viewed the video sympathized for the security guards in the video- saying that the guards were not given proper training by the management and that pinning the blame on them was nothing less of unfair.

Some Malaysians however, sympathised for the security guards

The incident allegedly took place at the One-Utama Shopping Center here in Petaling Jaya.
